Bunch of dryer ballsIf you are looking for a great alternative for chemically created fabric softeners and dryer sheets, you should really check out alpaca dryer balls.  They are more effective, last longer, and are more environmentally friendly than any other alternative.

Since we started in this crazy business, we have fielded a plethora of requests for this product or more information about it.  It is one of the few alpaca products people are typically aware of and interested in.  For that very reason, alpaca wool felted dryer balls were one of the first products we starting creating with our fiber.

Benefits

Hypoallergenic – Alpaca dryer balls are felted using natural wool that has not been treated or dyed.  Alpaca fiber is also naturally hypoallergenic because the animals do not product lanolin like sheep.  They are perfect for babies and anyone else that has sensitive skin.

Softens Clothes and Prevents Wrinkling – Just like the chemically laced dryer sheets that you see in the supermarket, dryer balls are designed to help keep your clothes soft and wrinkle free. They do this by separating and fluffing your clothes as they bound around in the dryer.  They make your clothes stay fresher for longer!

Cost Effective – Traditional fabric softener sheets are meant for one time use.  That means that you are spending extra money every time you run the dryer, on top of the electricity.  Alpaca wool dryer balls are made to last for years, saving you hundreds of dollars in the long run.

Decreases Drying Time –  Dryer balls keep your wet clothes separated and increases the air flow between items of clothing.  They also absorb some of the water from the wet clothing while they are bouncing around through the cycle.  This makes your clothes dry more energy-efficiently.

Environmentally Friendly – Wool felted dryer balls do not need to be thrown away and replaced after each use like dryer sheets.  They will last hundreds of loads over many years.  This allows you to also reduced waste while reducing the amount of energy required to dry each load.  Not to mention, these balls are made from a renewable resource! Unlike the chemically filled dryer sheets and plastic dryer balls found on store shelves, when you finally do decide on a new set of dryer balls, your old ones can be thrown into the trash or even the compost as they will naturally break down.

Chemical Free – What about that wonderful scent your fabric soften and dryer sheets give to your clothes? Those pretty smells are chemicals that can actually increase your and your families’ chances of developing chemical allergies. They leave a residue on your clothes that you will spend the day inhaling while it spends its time on your clothing breaking down the materials more quickly than they were otherwise designed for. You don’t have to miss out on nice smelling clothes though. Your alpaca dryer balls can have completely customizable and changeable scents. Simply place a few drops of your favorite essential oil on one of your balls before running the dryer and the scent will be distributed into your clothes as they dry. After a few times through the dryer, the scent will diminish and you can use another scent all together or stick with that forever favorite.  Alpaca dryer balls have a naturally anti-bacterial property that reduces stubborn odors that may be left behind after washing, so to be completely scent free, use the balls as they come.

How To Use Wool Dryer Balls

Alpaca Dryer balls are very easy to use!  All you have to do is toss them into the dryer with your clothes, like you would a fabric softener sheets.  You want to use at least 2, but 4 will give you optimal results if you have a large dryer.  For most situations, we suggest that you use 3 at a time (check out our 3 pack below).

Dryer balls work by bouncing around the dryer and separating your clothes throughout the cycle.  This fluffs them up, allows more hot air to circulate through the clothes, reduces the amount of wrinkles, and repeatedly pummels your laundry to make it softer.
